IMeaning and associations

• Yin–yang relationship: Direct Wealth is the phase the Day Master overcomes with opposite polarity, as Jia (yang Wood) overcomes Ji (yin Earth). Jia and Ji also combine; this is described as easy management with harmony and attachment.
• Core associations:
  • Social associations: Stable assets, salaries, legitimate business profits, regular occupations, land and real estate.
  • Personal relationships: The primary wife indicator in men's charts: the formally recognized first spouse.
  • Temperament: Diligent, frugal, practical, precise with money, dutiful and reliable. Excessive Wealth may be associated with stinginess, greed, short-sightedness and profit as the sole concern.

IIFavorable and unfavorable conditions across schools

Wealth sustains life, but the traditional rule says only a strong Day Master can carry it.

• Most favorable: generation and protection
  • Output generating Wealth: This provides Wealth with deep roots. Without the nourishing input of Eating God or Hurting Officer , Wealth resembles water without a source and can readily dry up.
  • Wealth nourishing a strong Officer: When it meets Direct Officer , Wealth nourishes it, supporting advancement in office. Officer in turn restrains Rob Wealth , protecting Wealth.
• Most unfavorable: appropriation and pressure
  • Peer and Rob Wealth taking Wealth: Direct Wealth most fears surrounding Peer and Rob Wealth. Described as gentle in nature, it is vulnerable to appropriation; the source predicts heavy financial loss and, in men's charts, possible loss of the wife.
  • Strong Wealth and a weak Day Master: Excessive Wealth burdens a weak Day Master. The source associates this with money-related litigation or handling wealth without enjoying it: “a poor person in a rich house.”

IIIPattern analysis: the month-command method of Ziping Zhenquan

• Conditions for the pattern: The month's main qi is Direct Wealth; when it is exposed in the Heavenly Stems , the Direct Wealth pattern is established. It particularly favors a well-supported Day Master.
• Quality and viability:
  • Strong Wealth generating Officer: A clear Wealth–Officer generating relationship, free of disruptive Hurting Officer or mixed Killings, is said to bring rapid advancement and the highest distinction.
  • Wealth accompanied by Resource: Wealth and Direct Resource are normally opposed because Wealth damages Resource. If positioned so they do not clash and each performs its role, the source predicts both great wealth and an honorable reputation.
  • Rescuing a damaged pattern: Abundant month-command Wealth attacked by many rivals seems lost. If a Seven Killings appears in the stems to restrain Rob Wealth and preserve resources, this is called rescue from desperation and associated with distinguished military office.

Di Tian Sui gives a celebrated principle concerning Wealth:

何知其人富？财气通门户。

How can one know a person is wealthy? The qi of Wealth flows through the gateways.

A chart of great wealth need not be filled with Wealth indicators. The central issue is the configuration's unobstructed flow.

CommentaryThis is explained as continuous generation by Output, a sufficiently strong Day Master and hidden Wealth combinations among the branches. Together these form the structure associated with immense wealth.

财神反不真…… 忌财，而财合闲神化财者，八不真也。

Wealth may instead be inauthentic… when Wealth is unfavorable but combines with an otherwise idle influence to transform into more Wealth: the eighth case.

If a weak chart already suffers under Wealth, a combination producing still more Wealth is called inauthentic Wealth. The source predicts hardship and debt through greed or speculation, quoting: “Flattering the rich and forgetting gratitude for profit is poverty with baseness.”

VApplications: luck cycles and overall judgment

• Years when Wealth's circulation produces a breakthrough: If the chart already has flowing Wealth but a slightly weak Day Master, a strong Peer or Rob Wealth decade provides the needed support. Although often feared elsewhere, these cycles are said here to bring rapid commercial success and large gains.
• Marriage and romance in men's charts: Direct Wealth represents the primary wife. A single, clear Direct Wealth is associated with a virtuous spouse and lifelong partnership. Punishments, clashes or appropriation by Rob Wealth are interpreted as repeated marital loss or serious illness of the wife. Mixed Direct and Indirect Wealth Wealth is associated with numerous romantic partners and indulgence.
• Avoiding financial loss: “When Resource is strong and Officer weak, Wealth can damage Resource.” Wealth-dominated cycles without Officer or Killings to mediate are said to tempt the person into abandoning principles, damaging reputation and suffering the consequences.
